Sucking up the water is step one of five.
Extraction
Removing standing and absorbed surface water. Fast, visible, satisfying. Also the easy part, and the part a guy with a truck-mount can do.
Structural drying
Bringing the actual building materials — subfloor, framing, drywall, insulation — back to their normal moisture content, verified with meters, using air movers and dehumidification sized to the space. This takes days and it’s the part that decides whether you get mold.
How to tell them apart on a quote
Ask what the target moisture content is and how it will be verified. A real answer involves numbers and daily readings. A vague answer means you’re buying extraction and hoping.
